General Information:
The venue will allow for a car-free tournament.
You can take the light rail from the airport (MSP) to downtown Minneapolis, at which point the hotel shuttle will pick you up from the Metrodome Station, or it's a 3 mile walk crossing the Mississippi River.
Located within a short walk of the hotel is the pool, banquet facility, a variety of restaurants/bars (mostly smoke free), a liquor store (CLOSED ON SUNDAY), grocery stores, and a hospital. It's everything an underwater hockey player needs for a weekend of fun.
Hotels:
Radisson Hotel Metrodome ($99/night. Double occupancy + tax +$12.00/night for parking) THIS IS A DEAL! 615 Washington Avenue SE. Call 612-379-8888 or the toll free hotel number 1-800-822-6757. Call 612-623-9303. Reservations must be made by May 25, 2009. The Days Inn is a typical Days Inn. (The rooms have been remodeled.) The hotel is located 5 blocks from the pool. We currently have 15 rooms on hold.
Transportation:
Air:
The airport to fly into is Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP). MSP is a Delta/NWA hub, but also is serviced by many other carriers. In the airport, follow the signs downstairs to the light rail. You will have to take a short tram to the airport light rail station. Tickets are purchased at the cool underground station that was bored by a big machine from Japan.
Some smaller airlines, like Sun Country and Southwast, fly into the smaller Humphrey terminal. Follow the signs to the light rail.
Light Rail:
The light rail line runs from the airport (MSP) to downtown Minneapolis. Both hotels run shuttles to the Metrodome train station about 3 miles away from the hotels. The Hiawatha Line (Route 55, it's the only light rail line). When you're on the train call your hotel (after you pass through the tunnel) and tell them you're headed to the Metrodome Station and would like a shuttle pick up.
Note: If you end up at the Mall of America you went the wrong way, unless that is where you want to go.
